ProLabs CWDM/DWDM SFP+ transceivers offer a cost-effective solution in long-haul networks by supporting single mode dual fiber applications with CWDM and DWDM wavelengths.
To ensure network equipment compatibility, small form factor pluggable (SFP) is designed to meet Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) standards. By using wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) technology – a fiber-optic transmission technique that allows different data streams to be sent simultaneously over a single optical fiber network – SFP+ modules can transmit data on discrete & specific wavelengths to improve density on existing fiber.
These two main types of WDM technologies are categorized into coarse (CWDM) and dense (DWDM). CWDM and DWDM are both effective methods to solve the increasing bandwidth capacity of information transmission at present, but they differ from each other in many aspects. The primary difference between the two is the width of each discrete wavelength band. DWDM employs a greater number of narrower wavelength bands (channels) while CWDM utilizes wider ranges per brand.
CWDM SFP+ Transceivers Features and Specifications
CWDM SFP+ transceivers can transport up to 18 CWDM wavelengths, ranging from 1270nm to 1610nm. These CWDM transceivers can be applied in data transmission spanning from 10km to 100km. It's a convenient and cost-effective solution for the implementation of 10Gigabit Ethernet in data centers, educational institutions, and metropolitan-area access networks.

DWDM SFP+ Transceivers Features and Specifications
DWDM SFP+ modules cover more than 200 lanes and can handle even higher speed protocols. DWDM channels are in the 1550nm region of the fiber, which is the fiber that has the lowest loss. They provide scalable and high-performance solutions for LAN and WAN networks.
